Our Community

Autumn Fields is located just south of Danville in the village of Tilton in the heart of Illinois in Vermilion County. With ready access to all that Danville has to offer and quick access to Champaign-Urbana and Indianapolis, you can experience small town life with big town amenities nearby. Now a community of around 3000 people established in 1855, Tilton was named for Charles Tilton, close friend of Abraham Lincoln who worked for the railroads. Tilton began as a mining town, transitioned to a railroad town, and eventually grew to what it is today, a friendly Midwestern community built on a history of hard work, family, community, & service.

Located just north of and adjacent to Tilton is Danville, IL.  Formed in 1827, Danville now has a population of over 30,000 and offers many benefits of a larger community. Danville maintains 17 local parks and green spaces, and is a regional hub for artists and artistic expression with numerous arts groups including the famous murals painted by the Walldogs artists from all over the world.  Tilton & Danville always have a full calendar of events for all times of the year with local festivals, craft fairs, sports events, farmers markets and more.

There are plenty of recreational opportunities on offer in Danville and the surrounding area including nearby Kickapoo State Park, world class museums, public festivals, concerts, and watchable wildlife to enjoy!  If you like sports, become a fan of the nationally recognized Danville, Dans baseball team, or many other sports supported by DACC, the Danville Area Community College, and of course the nearby University of Illinois.  If you like golf, there are 5 courses located in or near Danville.

Danville & Tilton boast dozens of dining options, including bars and grills, steakhouses, all your favorite fast foods, and friendly community taps.  If you have a taste for something, you can probably find it nearby.  If antiquing is your thing, or you are just looking for a few special touches for your home here at Autumn Fields, shopping opportunities abound here in Tilton & Danville, and if your family from out of town wants to come and join you in exploring our local community, there are over a dozen nearby hotels, inns, and bed and breakfast locations offering affordable local overnight accommodations.

In Central Illinois, you can’t go far without encountering historic locations associated with Abraham Lincoln, and Danville / Tilton are no exception.  Home to 3 exhibits in the Illinois Looking For Lincoln program, our community is awash in history including the Vermilion County War Museum, the Vermilion County Museum, the Fithian home, the Lamon house, and for the railroad enthusiast, the nearby Depot Railroad Museum.

Our community is proudly patriotic and has a long history of service including memorials for the Revolutionary War, WWI, WWII,  Korea, & Vietnam.  Danville is home to numerous American Legion and VFW posts, and for those that served, Danville is home to the VA Illiana Health Care System serving over 150,000 veterans living in the surrounding areas of Illinois & Indiana.

Any way you slice it, Tilton & Danville are long established mature communities with a lot to offer to anyone who chooses to make Autumn Fields your home.
